The recent bad weather isn't going to get any better according to weather predictions this weekend, with some regions set to be hit with a typical month's worth of rain over the course of 24 hours.

Residents of Darwen in Lancashire were evacuated in June when its rivers burst its banks, and July isn't shaping up much easier either. 

As of Friday, 87 nationwide flood alerts are in place and three actual flood warnings requiring "immediate action" were released. 

They are:

· Darwen, Lancashire (again)

· River Spodden in Whitworth, Lancashire

· Old Basford in Nottingham

Meanwhile, the first practice sessions for the British Grand Prix in Silverstone and the T in the Park festival are expected to be made more challenging.

Friday and Saturday are expected to the worst for heavy rain with low lying properties and transport links bearing the worst of the it. 

The key areas are: Yorkshire, the North East of England, the Midlands, East Anglia and the northern half of Wales  

Over the weekend, further heavy rain is forecast for parts of northern England as well central/southern Scotland.
