The dogged determination of Coronation Streets Sean Tully to secure a date with dishy vet Tim finally pays off this week, only to end in disaster.
Weatherfields favourite factory worker convinces Tim to join him and his fictitious dog on a romantic weekend walk.
Being without a pooch to parade in front of his animal-loving date, Sean convinces kennel owner Kirk to lend him a dog for the occasion.
But the best Kirk can come up with is a giant old English sheepdog called Buster who rapidly does a runner after Sean lets him off the lead.
To make matters worse for Sean, the pooch then makes its way home to its owners, who have returned from holiday just in time to take Buster for a check up at Tims vets surgery.
"Youd think that this would convince Sean to tell the truth, wouldnt you?" said Antony Cotton, who plays Sean.
"But of course it doesnt! Sean sees Tim in the pub and he comes up with a tale about his dog being run over - its hilarious!" added the actor.
Sean is finally forced to come clean when Tim confronts him, but is distraught when the vet is less than impressed by his claim that he only lied to get a date with him.
"Oh, hes heartbroken, and furious at what hes done," said Antony.
"But its his own fault really - he should have just been himself."
