Scarlett Johansson, also known as the Black Widow in the Avengers film, is set to become the highest paid female actor in history when she accepts the new £13million deal being offered to her for a sequel to Avengers. This proposal will make her worth more than Angelina Jolie, who received £12.2 million for The Tourist back in 2010.
The Avengers sequel will be Johansson’s fourth superhero movie, if she accepts the new deal. Aside from the first Avengers movie, Scarlett has also appeared in Iron Man 2, and will also be seen in Nick Fury and Hancock 2.
The higher amount of the new deal was brought on by the success of the first Avengers movie, which became the third highest grossing movie in history. Johansson, who plays the only female role in the group, is considered as an important part of the movie’s success. Her previous performance was loved both by film fans and by critics.
Reports also say that her role in the sequel is a must, and that producers think her role is integral for sex appeal and story appeal.
Aside from Scarlett, two other actors namely Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man, and Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, were also reportedly offered 50 per cent pay hikes for the sequel.
