Sam Smith has announced that he’s scheduled to undergo vocal chords surgery that will prevent him from talking for three weeks. The operation will be carried out after the singer suffered haemorrhage on his vocal chords. Taking to social media, the Stay With Me hitmaker told his fans that he is “upset” that he won’t be able to sing for a while.
He wrote: "Bad news. I have my operation booked for next week, so getting really nervous.
"But by doing this in 8 weeks time I'm gonna be able to sing like never before so it's worth it. I am so sorry to all. Dreading the next month thou, I can't speak for THREE WEEKS after the op. (sic)"
Before he announced that he was already scheduled for the operation, he wrote: "Dear all: I am very upset to announce I have been battling to get my vocal chords better the last 10 days but unfortunately they haven't recovered and I am going to need surgery.
"I am so gutted to be missing all of the shows and events I was meant to be playing at. The doctors say I will be back in 6 to 8 weeks and I can't wait to sing to you all soon. (sic)"
