Sacha Baron Cohen receives Gong at British Comedy Awards

British Comedy Awards honour Sacha Baron Cohen with an outstanding achievement gong on Wednesday night.

13 years after Sacha Baron Cohen was named best newcomer, the comedian went back to the British Comedy Awards on Wednesday night where he was honoured with an outstanding achievement gong.

Baron-Cohen, who was in guise of Ali G, accepted his statue from Sir Ben Kingsley and joked: “I is grown up now. I ain't living in my nan's house anymore. I am living in her garage.”

Explaining why he was wearing a gold tracksuit which bears “Savile” on the back, he said: “Can you believe it's been ten years since I's been on the telly? Times has been tough means me now well skint. These days I has got to buy me tracksuits from second hand shops.”

Savile is the late BBC presenter who was accused of a string of sex offences.

Other big winner at the British Comedy awards included 10 O’Clock Live host Charlie Brooker for home entertainment personality, Lee Mack for best male TV comic, Jo Brand for best female, and Morgana Robinson as breakthrough artist for her celebrity impersonations.
