Shamed TV presenter Rolf Harris, who was convicted of sexually abusing a string of girls and sentenced for five years and nine months in prison, is going to be transferred to Leyhill Open Prison in South Gloucestershire. This will come after spending just fours weeks behind bars according to reports.
According to The Daily Mirror, when Harris is transferred to the prison dubbed as the “Savory of Slammers” he will never be locked in his room and he will be allowed to enjoy walks in the gardens and even art courses.
Peter Saunders, of the National Association of People Abused in Childhood, told the Mirror: "It's another slap in the face for victims.
"The lenient approach sends a message to other people that they might not have to suffer serious consequences for abusing children."
An NSPCC spokesman said: "It gives the wrong message, particularly to Harris' victims, if there is a perception that he will be serving his sentence in an easy way."
Being an 84-year-old inmate, he will get a £8-a-week pension and a free TV.
