Robin Williams' grieving daughter Zelda was forced to quit Twitter after she received a mortuary-based photograph said to show her father’s body. The picture was actually a picture of another man, who slightly looked like the actor, who died several years ago from asphyxiation. Good Will Hunting star Williams died days ago under similar circumstances.
The two Twitter users, who are now suspended from the social media site, verbally abused her and criticised her over the apparently small number of pictures of her father she posted online, saying: “The real private moments I shared with him were precious, quiet, and believe it or not, not full of photos or ‘selfies’.”
Meanwhile, a friend of Williams told The Telegraph that the actor was forced to do a sequel of his hit film Mrs Doubtfire (which is now expected to be scrapped) because he badly needed the money. The friend added that the actor felt his job “brought out his demons” because he invested so much energy in them and left him “drained” and vulnerable to depression.
“He signed up to do them purely out of necessity,” the friend said. “He wasn’t poor, but the money wasn’t rolling in any more and life is expensive when you have to pay off two ex-wives and have a family to support.”
Miss Williams released tribute for her father saying: “I feel stripped bare. My last day with him was his birthday, and I will be forever grateful that my brothers and I got to spend that time alone with him, sharing gifts and laughter.
“He was always warm, even in his darkest moments.
“While I’ll never understand how he could be loved so deeply and not find it in his heart to stay, there’s minor comfort in knowing our grief and loss, in some small way, is shared by millions."
