Robbie Williams has become a dad after his wife Ayda Field gave birth to a healthy baby girl on September 18th
The singer’s first child is named Theodora Rose Williams, and her arrival prompted dad Robbie to leave a happy note on his blog: “Praise be, it’s Theodora Rose Williams, affectionately known as Teddy…Born 3.33 PM on 18.9.12, 7 lbs. 4 oz.”
Even before Teddy was born, Robbie had already said that he and wife Ayda planned to use a very traditional name for their daughter rather than a ‘mad celebrity name’. “It’s not Appleesque. It’s a very solid, old-school name,”
He also assured fans that “baby, mummy, and daddy are all rockin” and thanked everyone for their best wishes.
Gary Barlow, Robbie’s fellow member in Take That, sent a congratulatory tweet: “Massive congrats Rob and Ayda. So happy for you.”
Prior to Teddy’s arrival, Robbie had reportedly been worried about missing the London birth while he was on tour around the UK, but he said that he had a private jet ready to take him to the hospital the couple had chosen for the birth.
Robbie also stated that he wanted to raise his daughter in the UK, which is why he and Turkish-American Ayda moved from LA to London prior to the birth.
“I don’t want to educate our baby in LA because I would much prefer her to have English sensibilities,” Robbie explained to the BBC.
“I want the baby to have an English passport, we’re still figuring out exactly whereabouts the baby is going to be brought up.”
Robbie and Feld married two years ago after being in a relationship for five years.
