Richard Curtis gave hints that his last movie, About Time, could be the last one that he will direct. In an interview with Empire Magazine, the award-winning writer said: "I waited a while in order to write [About Time]. This probably will be the last film I will direct."
Curtis, who is probably best known for writing the script for the hit films Notting Hill, Four Weddings and A Funeral, and Bridget Jones Diary, couldn’t give exact reason for leaving the directors chair. When asked, he just replied: "I don't know. Just a feeling... just a feeling."
"It feels like a summing-up to me. We'll see how things turn out.”
Curtis also admitted that it took him a while to realize that he was ready to direct. He said: "Many of the comedies I like the most, from Woody Allen's films to Monty Python films, have been directed by the people who write them. So it was quite a logical thing, but I wasn't ready to do it at that point. And when I reached that point, I was ready to do it."
About Time will be released on September 4th. The movie, which stars Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams, is about a 21-year-old who discovers that he can travel through time and change events.
