Actress Renee Zellweger is so desperate to protect her privacy that she mails her dirty underwear back to the US.

The Bridget Jones star has revealed that she has turned to FedEx after growing tired of having her bags searched by airport security.

The embarrassment of a stranger going through her smalls is just too much to bear, the Texan Oscar winner said.

"I'm not going to throw away perfectly good underwear," she explained.

"I can't bear the idea of them checking out my smalls in front of me. So I send those to my home by FedEx."

Zellweger is set to hit cinema screens again in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which opens in the UK on November 12th.
