Scientists at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina has successfully shown that it is possible to relay instructions from one animal to another through brain-to-brain communication.
Using pairs of laboratory rats that were placed in separate cages, the scientists, led by Professor Miguel Nicolelis, implanted electrodes into the brains of the animals. Through this, the first rat was able to pass on the instructions to the other one using a system of electronic encoding.
The scientists believe that this maybe the start of organic computing based on networks of interconnected brains. They also believe that the telepathic-like break through can be the start of establishing new ways of communicating using brainpoweralone.
Prof Miguel Nicolelissaid: “These experiments showed that we have established a sophisticated direct communication linkage between brains…so, basically, we are creating what I call an organic computer.”
