Q Awards 2012: Bands Muse, Pulp and Blur win awards

Blur won the best live act trophy at Q Awards, with Muse being best act in the world...

Brit bands Pulp and Blur won major awards at this year’s Q Awards. Pulp received the Inspiration Award, while Blur went home with the best live act trophy. This was for their performance at Hyde Park on the last day of the Olympics.

 

Blur’s award was given out despite complaints over their performance, as there were sound problems which reportedly people who attended the event raised issues about. The London quartet beat The Stone Roses for the said category. Muse, on the other hand, was named the best act in the world. 

 

Bobby Womack went home with the best album award for The Bravest Man in the Universe that was co-produced by Albarn. Other winners included British rapper Plan B for best track, for his song “III Manors”, and Emeli Sande for best solo artist. 

 

Q Magazine's editor Andrew Harrison said, as reported by the BBC: “It's been the most incredible year for British music.” 

 

He added: “Our bands and our anthems transformed the Olympics... and amazing comeback shows from Blur and the Stone Roses showed the enduring appeal of our best-loved musicians.”

 

Emeli Sande, who won over Noel Gallagher and Adele for best solo artist category, told the BBC about her feelings towards the award: “It feels great. Q has supported me from the very beginning, so it feels really nice to get this type of acknowledgement."
