Don’t you just hate it when you’re waiting for an important message and you keep getting unsolicited marketing SMS messages from companies that you do not know? Personally, I hate pulling my mobile phone from by pocket to realize that somebody is just trying to sell me something which I often do not need.
Good thing there are ways in which we can prevent this from happening over and over again. This is particular good to know if you’re being updated with text messages regarding payment protection insurance (PPI).
The first thing to do is to be careful withwho you give your phone number to. Also, avoid putting your phone number online, especially on social networking sites.
If you’re receiving unwanted marketing SMS messages, inform the organisation that you want to opt out or that you don’t want to receive any more messages from them. This can be done by sending them SMS messages (or by calling them if you prefer).
If after opting out, you still receive SMS marketing messages, the next step is to report the sender to your network. Unfortunately, people can easily change or use another number so your network may not be able to block all the messages.
