She's conquered the music and film industries, but now it seems Madonna is turning her hand to health and fitness.

The 52-year-old opened her first gym this week in Mexico City, Hard Candy; it's name taken from the title of her eleventh studio album.

Hundreds of fans turned up to the opening, which will be the first in a chain of gyms by the star.

The queen of pop revealed that she chose Mexico as the location for her first one because she likes the energy of the people:

"Our plan is to use Mexico as a place to fine-tune our brand and then expand it to other countries."

Membership to Madonna's gym costs 2,000 pesos per month, which works out at £103 and there is a one-off joining fee of 10,400 pesos - £534.
