Seattle police have released previously unseen photos from the suicide scene of Smells Like Teen Spirit singer Kurt Cobain. Drug paraphernalia among some of the Nirvana musician’s belongings including his sunglasses.
A police spokesman explained that several rolls of underdeveloped film were discovered by a detective who recently reviewed the case. The pictures were taken at the Nirvana frontman’s home at the time of his death. However, she clarified that the recently discovered pictures did not change their conclusion that the singer killed himself.
"There was nothing earth-shattering in any of these images," police spokesman Renee Witt said.
"There's still a lot of interest in this case," she said. "The detective went into the case files to refresh himself. The outcome of the case has not changed."
In a statement released by the Seattle Police, they ruled out conspiracy theories that Cobain had been murdered. It reads: "Sometimes people believe what they read - some of the disinformation from some of the books, that this was a conspiracy. That's completely inaccurate.”
"It's a suicide. This is a closed case."
Fronted by Cobain on guitar and vocals, Nirvana was one of the biggest bands of the 1990s and helped to usher in a wave of ‘grunge’ music into the mainstream bolstered by the likes of Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam.
