Kent police has deployed additional patrols around schools after some pupils complained of being stalked by people wearing clown masks travelling in vans in a bid to scare pupils walking to and from school.
Police have warned parents and children in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge to be vigilant.
Chief Inspector Dave Pate said: “We are still working to establish whether any offences have been committed.
“However, I want to assure parents that we take the safety of all children very seriously and have extra officers on patrol around schools.”
Last week, the same incident was reported at Hillview School for Girls in Tonbridge, Kent. This was followed by a number of reports of people wearing clown masks being spotted in a van on St John’s Road in Tunbridge on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Schools in the town issued a warning after a boy was approached by two men in a van. Last week, head teacher Elaine Buchanan emailed parents warning them about the incident.
