Brad Pitt has clarified remarks that he made about how he feels his life "wasnÂ’t interesting" when he was married to Jennifer Aniston.
The Benjamin Button star, who was married to the Friends actress for five years before they divorced in 2005, said in an interview with Parade that he is much more "satisfied" with his life now:
"I put much more emphasis on being a satisfied man. I'm satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much.
"I spent the 90s trying to hide out... I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint. It started feeling pathetic.
"I think that my marriage [to Jennifer] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."
The comments had been widely reported and ‘misinterpreted’ what the he was trying to say, the actor explained.
The Moneyball star released a statement to clarify the comments, saying:
"It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving and hilarious woman who remains my friend.
"It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself - and that, I am responsible for.”
Pitt is currently living in the UK while he films World War Z, a film about a zombie apocalypse.
His latest movie, Moneyball will be released on 25 November.
