British actor Peter Gilmore has died in London aged 81-years-old following an illness, according to reports. The man was well-known for the BBC programme ‘The Onedin Line’ where he played the character Captain James.
As well as his part in the show, which began in 1971 and lasted for a decade, Peter also starred in the hit ‘Carry On’ films.
A spokesperson said, as reported by the Daily Mail: "On behalf of his wife Anne and Peter's family I would like to thank those who have sent their kind thoughts and condolences."
Peter, who was originally from Germany, also featured in the likes of ‘Doctor Who’.
He married three times during his life; to Una Stubbs in 1958, Jan Waters in 1970 and Anne Stallybrass in 1987. Peter worked with Anne for ‘The Onedin Line’.
