Singer Pete Doherty was asked to leave the Thailand rehabilitation facility he was checked in after just three weeks.
The singer had, three weeks earlier, sought the help of the rehab for his addiction to crack cocaine and heroin. However, he was soon kicked out after he ‘disrupted’ the other patients. This occurred at The Cabin in Chiang Mai. After the incident, the rehab director simply advised Pete to ‘consider recovery’ again in the future.
Officially, programme director Alastair Mordey said that Pete was discharged for ‘therapeutic reasons’. “It is important to maintain the integrity of the treatment programme for the other clients to have a good chance of recovery.”
He added that Doherty understood the situation and that their party was amicable. “We are of course disappointed to see him. We hope some of the things he has learnt here will help him in the future.”
Reports say Pete is now flying back to the UK. He has not made any comments on the reports.
This is not the first short stint Pete has had in a rehab. He had previously checked in at facilities and checked out early in 2003, 2006, and 2007. This means he has been in and out of various clinics over the last 10 years.
