A burglar broke into the owner's home, stole a pet parrot and left a ransom note in its place.
The owner, Cara Cosson was devastated when she was ordered, via a ransom note, to text a mobile number if she wanted her parrot back alive.
The note which was put together from letters cut from a magazine said, "Contact police...bird dies a slow agonising death."
If Cara wanted Joe Joe, the African grey parrot worth £600 back alive, she had to text the mobile number provided.
Cara says Joe Joe is more than just a bird to her. She feels like her child has been kidnapped.
The owner did call the police who arrested a man in his 40s. He was later released on bail. The parrot is still missing.
Cosson is so upset by the burglary that she is considering moving house to escape the memories of the break in.
