Character Group, the makers behind the popular children’s toy Peppa Pig, is reportedly blaming the toy Zhu Zhu hamsters for its supposed fall in annual profits.
The company could face a miserable Christmas period even though their Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam toys are doing well in the market place. It is understood that Scooby Doo toys are also performing well.
With Zhu Zhu robotic hamsters being a popular selling toy in 2011, Character Group’s App Gear toys are not pulling through as well as hoped.
Based on reports, the firm’s international sales are not disappointing and there are high hopes for serving overseas customers going into the New Year.
The Oldham based company Character Group have devised their App Gear toys so that they can be played using smartphones.
Character Group provide giant stores such as Argos, Tesco and Toys’R’Us with some of their products.
