If you feel that everything around you is too generic and if you want to have something that is uniquely yours, Dot One offers a truly personalised pattern with your DNA prints written all over it.
Interested parties can send their DNA samples and the company will use it to generate personalised design that can be used on scarves, a DNA family tree, or DNA tartan.
Alpha Biolabs explain: "Chromosomes are thread-like structures which reside within the nucleus of our cells and are made up of tightly packed DNA molecules.
"DNA consists of 4 types of nitrogen bases; Adenine (A), Cytosine (C), Guanine (G) and Thymine (T) which are paired together by hydrogen bonds. We have approximately 3 billion base pairs.
"There are specific places on the chromosome where genetic differences occur. The changes in code are referred to as polymorphisms. To analyse patterns of inheritance, we study a class of polymorphism known as Short Tandem Repeats (STRs)."
