EastEnders star Christopher Parker was rushed to hospital yesterday amid fears that he could have taken an overdose.

The young actor, who plays Spencer Moon in the troubled BBC soap, collapsed at a London hotel.

According to the Sun newspaper, Parker had been upset by recent press allegations about his sexuality.

A friend told the tabloid: "Chris was heartbroken over rumours about his sexuality which emerged last week.

"He checked into a hotel but became very upset on Sunday evening."

A spokesman for St Thomas' Hospital said that Parker was okay but refused to comment further on his condition.
