A video re-enactment showing Oscar Pistorius wearing a vest and shorts with his fist clenched as if he was holding a gun, was broadcasted by Australian TV network Channel Seven. Defence lawyers for the case has slammed the “illegal” airing and said they will be taking legal action against Channel Seven. The video, which was produced by an American company for the defence, has not been used during the trial so far.
Pistorius' attorney Brian Webber told the South African Press Association: "They have no right to broadcast the video. We will deal with it accordingly."
Meanwhile, Mark Llewellyn, executive producer of the Sunday Night programme, said that they did not illegally obtained the video. "This was a significant investigation... examining the critical 85 minutes on Valentine's Night 2013 when Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead by Oscar Pistorius.”
"The material shown on Sunday Night goes to the heart of both the prosecution and defence cases, including the account provided by Oscar Pistorius.
"We would not have run the footage if we thought we had obtained it illegally.
"The story was run in Australia only and not made available to any other territory."
