Reality Tv star Sharon Osbourne has blasted bosses of her now-defunct American chat show for being too "politically correct".
Osbourne signed a $3.6 million (GBP2 million)-a-year deal with Time Warner's Telepictures for daily programme The Sharon Osbourne Show - which attracted big-name guests including Sir Elton John - before she was "fired" for her upfront personality.
The 52-year-old, who currently presents British talent show The X Factor alongside Simon Cowell, says, "I got fired. They just didn't like me. I liked doing the show, but it was really hard.
"Daytime Tv in America has so many restrictions on what you can and can't do. You have to be politically correct."
And Osbourne claims network chiefs even banned her from saying "sausages" on air.
She adds, "They said I said it with a sexual connotation. Certain words I was allowed to say but other words I wasn't allowed to say.
"It was a pain. There is so much more freedom in the Uk. Political correctness has gone mad in the United States."
