Former Black Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he was "devastated" to be told that he had HIV.
In an interview for this month's Glamour magazine, he revealed: "I went to the doctor and had an Aids test and he told me it was positive. That was one of the worst days of my life."
He was then asked to do another test to confirm the diagnosis, which came back negative.
The doctor put the first, false diagnosis down to Osbourne's heavy drinking and drug-taking, which had nearly destroyed his immune system.
Osbourne stated: "When I used to ******* get loaded I would get myself into all kinds of situations.
"It turned out that because I was drinking and using drugs so much, my immune system had dropped so that it was a borderline result. When I went back to be tested again it was negative."
The revelation is one of a series about the rock wild man's life that have emerged in recent weeks as he promotes his autobiography, 'I Am Ozzy'.
In other news, Osbourne, 60, has finally passed his driving test on his 19th attempt.
The musician blamed his heavy drinking for decades of failure at his road test and says he was only properly ready to get his license last year.
He said: "For the first time in my life I'm legal to drive - so watch out.
"I would go for my test and they would see me and go, 'No Mr. Osbourne. Come back another day - I'm not even getting in the car with you.'
"I'd be walking round the test centre with a bottle of vodka In my pocket."
