Here are a few organisations that are committed to help you with your debt problems for free.

For those of you struggling with debt, here is a list of some of organisations that offer free advice and services.

Take note of this. The below list is not exhaustive. Also, the links below lead to organisations which are not managed by the HMRC.

• Business Debt line:

A helpline that provides free independent and confidential advice. It also has a website with a range of free online guides.

• Citizens Advice Bureau:

It gives advice not only on money but also on legal issues as well. You can find it in the telephone directory or online.

• StepChange Debt Charity:

Offers independent and unbiased advice to those in debt, and maintains a website with free online guides. This website includes a tool, available round the clock, to create an anonymous, free personal assessment of your financial situation with pertinent advice.

• Insolvency Service:

Besides administrative and investigative services, this organization presents choices if you think bankruptcy is the only way ahead, and counsel on how to act if an employer who is declared insolvent does not pay you your redundancy entitlement.

• National Debt line:

It is a phone line for citizens in England, Scotland and Wales. The advice offered is independent and confidential. Various helpful publications can be downloaded from their website.

• Tax Aid:

This UK charity will offer advice on taxes to anyone independent of his job profile being an employee, employer, retired or dependent on benefits who would be able to afford for professional need.

• Debt Advice Foundation:

Anyone concerned about debt can benefit from this nationally registered charity that takes a confidential approach to provide support and advice.

• Your Local Authority:

Follow the link below and the page will use information of where you live to connect you to your local authority. They sometimes offer debt counselling.
