Roger Lloyd-Pack, the British actor who played somewhat dim roadsweeper Trigger in classic BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, has died at the age of 69 from pancreatic cancer. His agent confirmed that Lloyd-Pack passed away on Wednesday night.
His co-star, Sir David Jason described Lloyd-pack as “"a very quiet, kind and unassuming actor who was a pleasure to work with".
"Although he played the simple soul of Trigger in Only Fools and Horses, he was a very intelligent man and a very fine actor capable of many roles.
"I shall remember him with fondness and for all the good times we had together."
Born in Islington, north London in 1944, he became a versatile actor who was effective in both comedy and drama. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before making his stage debut in Northampton. His breakthrough came in 1981 when he was cast as Colin “Trigger” Ball in the sitcom.
Talking about his role, he previously said: 'It's extraordinary to me as an actor to find oneself in a sitcom that's been successful and goes on being successful. I can't go anywhere without anyone going on about it."
While mostly seen on the small screen, Lloyd-Pack also appeared in films such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
