Leading German magazines taunt the Olympic planning going on in London leading up to the games. The Germans, who are known for their efficiency and skill in planning events, have called the preparations in London an ‘Olympic-sized disaster’ and ‘one big soggy mess’. 

 

An article in Der Spiegel, a leading news magazine in Germany, reads: “London and the Olympic Games are clearly not made for each other.”

 

The article pinpointed just some of the reasons why it is predicting a fall for the London Olympics 2012: “Visitors will need determination and, most of all, patience to reach the venues at all. And, for the locals, it all can’t end soon enough.” It also made mention of a ‘clattering’ Tube system, ‘narrow’ pavements, and a chaotic passport control situation over at Heathrow. The magazine concluded that the games will be an ‘arduous obstacle course for everyone’. 

 

The Germans also did not fail to criticize the England weather, which it dubbed as ‘classic bad weather’. Unfortunately so, weather in London during the last month has been cold, wet, and gloomy. Records also show that last month was the wettest June ever. And so far, forecasts for the Olympic dates are quite dismal. If these forecasts hold true, rain will certainly fall on the athletes as well as on the highest priced seats in the stadium. 

 

This does not bode well for the London Olympics, which is set to run from July 27 to August 12.
