Mark Zuckerberg tries breakthrough motion-tracked Oculus glove designed to touch the virtual world.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has posted pictures of himself getting to grips with a breakthrough technology designed to touch the virtual world. Touring the research lab of virtual reality company Oculus, he can be seen wearing a pair of motion-tracked gloves and making a Spider-Man style web-slinging gesture.

 

"We're working on new ways to bring your hands in virtual and augmented reality. Wearing these gloves, you can draw, type on a virtual keyboard, and even shoot webs like Spider Man," he said.

 

He added: "Some of the best scientists and engineers in the world are pushing the boundaries of virtual and augmented reality," he wrote.

 

"The goal is to make VR and AR what we all want it to be: glasses small enough to take anywhere, software that lets you experience anything, and technology that lets you interact with the virtual world just like you do with the physical one."

 

Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe explained: "We're now on a path to bring a number of these breakthrough technologies into upcoming products,"

 

"From advanced optics and display systems to revolutionary tracking and machine perception, we’re going to enable entire new categories of experiences and continue to blur the lines between the virtual and real world, bringing us even closer to the Holodeck,"
