Northern Ireland’s prison officer murder case sees new arrest
A man arrested on Wednesday is the new suspect for David Black’s murderer

Following the news on Thursday 1st November that a prison officer was shot dead in Northern Ireland while travelling to work, a man has been arrested in connection to the murder. David Black, aged 52, was reportedly shot on the M1 in County Armagh.
Police have said that detectives arrested a man on Wednesday 7th November, and he was picked up in Lurgan according to the BBC.
Mr. Black, who worked at Maghaberry Prison, leaves behind a wife and two children. His funeral took place on Tuesday in Cookstown, County Tyrone, where many people came to pay their respects including former colleagues.
It is understood that the First Minister, Peter Robinson, and Police Chief, Matt Baggott, were among those who attended, as reported by The Mirror. According to The Independent, the Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuinness, requested an invite to the funeral but was denied.
There have been three other arrests made in relation to the victim’s suspected killer, all of whom have been released.
Mr. Black is Northern Ireland’s first murdered prison officer in nearly two decades.
