Nine new characters that will be added in the fifth season of Game of Thrones, as officially announced at San Diego’s Comic Con during the HBO’s flagship fantasy drama Q&A session with cast and crew.
A two-minute video was shown where each actor talked about the character they’re going to play and their thoughts on joining the series.
Along with the producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, sitting on the panel were stars Kit Harington, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Gwendoline Christie, Natalie Dormer, John Bradley, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Rory McCann, and writer George RR Martin.
New faces who will join the successful series include Alexandre Siddig, newcomer Toby Sebastian, Oscar-nominated New Zealand actress Keisha Castle-Hughes, and London-born star DeObia Oparei will play Areo Hotah.
Meanwhile, the highest profile name to join season five is Jonathan Pryce who will play the character of High Sparrow, a religious figure who could be making waves in King’s Landing. Pryce has played alongside Al Pacino in Glengarry Glen Ross, Robert De Niro in Brazil and Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies.
The new season of Game of Thrones is expected to air in 2015.
