Police officers who are handling the case of the disappearance of Nicole Payne are now searching a small area of land and woods looking for clues. Specially trained search officers from West Midlands Police have cordoned off a site on the nature reserve in Binley, Coventry.
Nicole Payne vanished in 1991 when she was just 18 years old leaving a then seven-month-old son. She reportedly left on foot from her home on December 14, 1991 and was never seen again.
Detective Inspector Martin Slevin, who is leading the inquiry into Ms Payne's disappearance, said: "The area of land being looked at is as a result of ongoing inquiries into the disappearance of Nicola in December 1991.
"At this stage it is a preliminary search of an area of interest to us."
The police have arrested two 49-year-old men and 51-year-old woman in December 2013. They remain on police bail while inquiries are ongoing.
