A new reality show, entitled Born in the Wild, will show young mothers giving birth in the wilderness.
The idea is to tell the stories of mothers who want to deliver their babies with no help whatsoever.
The series, which was inspired by a woman who delivered her baby in a tropical creek while being filmed, will be shot at various locations, which will include creeks, woods, and forests in America.
Broadcaster Lifetime announced the show saying: "What happens when the craziest experience of a woman's life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors?"
However, the programme has drawn early criticism. A specialist at the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre, Ron Jaekle, said: "I understand everybody wants to believe we over-medicalise pregnancy and that it's a natural process.
"But it's a natural process that historically has caused an extraordinary loss of life."
