Production on new film 'Moneyball', starring Brad Pitt, has been shut down days before filming was due to start.
The Steven Soderbergh directed film has been placed in "limited turnaround" by Columbia Pictures' owners Sony.
According to Variety magazine studio boss Amy Pascal was unhappy with the most recent rewrite of the script and pulled the plug on Sony's support for the film.
The film magazine states: "The move came after Pascal read a rewrite that Soderbergh did to Steven Zaillian's script and found it very different from the earlier scripts she championed".
'Moneyball' is based on the bestselling book about baseball player Billy Beane, who would be played by Pitt.
It tells the true story of how Beane transformed the fortunes of the Oakland Athletics major league team by fielding lower costing players found through a computer system.
