NASA deployed the Kepler Space Telescope in 2009 and since then, it had discovered around 1,000 so-called exoplanets outside the solar system and now, it seems there may have been a further discovery.
The space agency has announced it will be holding a press conference at 6pm on Tuesday, May 10 to discuss the latest findings from the mission.
Last month, the Kepler telescope was in the news as it went into Emergency mode and NASA’s engineers lost touch with it. The engineers managed to re-establish contact and maneuvered the spacecraft to point it towards the centre of the Milky Way for another round of planet hunting.
"In 2014, the spacecraft began a new extended mission called K2. K2 continues the search for exoplanets while introducing new research opportunities to study young stars, supernovae and other cosmic phenomena," NASA said in a statement.
