Neknominate drinking craze claims life of first Briton

20-year-old Isaac Richardson died after drinking a lethal concoction of wine, whiskey, vodka, and lager.

The Neknominate drinking craze, which is thought to have originated in Australia and has seen participants downing alcohol with dog food, engine oil, and live goldfish as a dare, has claimed the life of first Briton – 20 year old Isaac Richardson who recently moved to London from Essex. 

 

Friends said that he was dared to drink something “messed up” at a south of London backpacker’s hostel. It turned out to be a lethal concoction of wine, whiskey, vodka, and lager. He then drank another one-and-a-half litre pitcher. Two minutes later, he collapsed and subsequently died. 

 

Richardson told fellow drinker Daniel Lee, 30, that he was going to outdo other NekNominations. 

 

Mr Lee said: “He was telling me that he was NekNominated and I’d never heard of it.

 

“He said he’d been given a dare to drink something messed up.

 

“He told me other people were putting Listerine and toothpaste into their drinks but he said he just wanted to mix loads of alcohol and down it.

 

“He said, ‘I want to outdo people; I want to do something that nobody has ever done’.”

 

“A little later I went upstairs to the hostel and I saw Isaac on the ground.

 

“The paramedics were trying to revive him but he was dead. He wasn’t moving, I knew he was dead.”
