National TV Awards 2013 sees Ant and Dec win again

The NTA winners have been announced; with Coronation Street taking an award over Eastenders for best Serial Drama

This year’s National TV Awards, which were revealed in London on Wednesday night, saw TV presenters Ant and Dec pick up an award for best Entertainment presenter for the twelfth time. The ceremony was held at the O2 Arena and it is one event that sees votes come from the general public.

Funny Geordie pair Ant and Dec, famously known for TV shows such as Im A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here – the reality show where celebrities brave the Australian jungle – as well as Britain’s Got Talent – in which comedian David Walliams was previously on the judging panel – were popular on the night.

Ant and Dec (Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly) seemed overwhelmed at winning having beaten the likes of Dermot O’Leary and Alan Carr to the prize.

Among other winners on the night funny woman Miranda Hart claimed an award for best Drama Performance for Call the Midwife. Other contenders in this category included Karen Gillian (Doctor Who).

And Coronation Street triumphed over Eastenders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks for best SerialDrama.

The popular show Downton Abbey won best Drama award, while Paul O’Grady’s TV show came first for best Factual Entertainment in which Top Gear, The Great British Bake Off and The Apprentice all were nominated for.

On the night Special Recognition was given to Joanna Lumley, famed for her role in Absolutely Fabulous, and David Attenborough’s Frozen Planet won an award for best Documentary Series.

Ant and Dec are both from Newcastle Upon Tyne and started out on the children’s TV show Byker Grove as characters PJ and Duncan.

They have had a hit record with “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble” as well as hosting many popular TV shows including Red or Black? and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
