A house in Leicester is believed to have been set on fire on purpose leading to the deaths of four members of one family. The blaze took place just hours after a man was stabbed and killed just a few meters away from the scene. Police who are investigating the death of the family now consider the case as murder. Detectives also launched an investigation probing if there is a linked to the murder of the man assaulted on Thursday.
The mother who died on the fire is was thought to be in her late 40s, her daughter was 19, and her two sons were 17 and 15. On the other hand, the man who was stabbed to death is in his 20’s.
Meanwhile, on Friday, police arrested a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman over the street attack.
Assistant Chief Constable Roger Bannister said that detectives consider the possibility of the blaze being a revenge attack.
He said: "These are obviously both very serious incidents and investigations have begun to establish if there are any links between them.”
"I understand the level of concern there may be in the city and would ask things not to escalate.
"I invite people, that if they have any concerns, to speak to the officers at the scene or call the police."
