Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning to get married in the next few months, according to reports.

American magazine, US Weeklyis reporting that three separate sources have confirmed that the pair are planning to wed within the next few months.

An insider revealed that the nuptials will be "intimate and informal", a complete contrast to PittÂ’s $1million wedding to Jennifer Aniston.

According to the publication, the nuptials are rumoured to be taking place in their chateau in Correns, France.

In May, 47-year-old Pitt told USA Weekend that he and Jolie, 36, may need to tie the knot for their children's sake.

The Hollywood actor let slip, saying:

"The kids ask about marriage. It's meaning more and more to them. So it's something we've got to look at."

In the past, the couple have said they wouldn't get hitched until same-sex marriage is legalised.

Representatives from both stars are yet to comment on the marriage claims.

The couple, who have six children, got together in 2005 while working on film, Mr and Mrs Smith.
