Eric Joyce, the independent MP for Falkirk, was arrested after a disturbance broke out at a House of Commons bar on Thursday, 14th March. Officers attended the scene around 10.30pm.
According to sources the incident took place outside the social bar, which was holding a karaoke evening.
A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called shortly before 10.30pm this evening to reports of a disturbance at a bar in the House of Commons.
“Officers attended and a man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with this incident.
“He remains in custody and inquiries continue.”
This is not the first time however, that the 52-year-old has been arrested by police. Mr. Joyce, who resigned from Labour in 2012, was arrested last year on suspicion of assault.
He was then made to pay a charge of £3,000 as well as receiving a temporary ban from public houses.
The MP was formerly in the army, although he left his position over 13 years ago.
