Morrissey was forced to cancel the rest of his US tour due to cold that he apparently got from Kristeen Young. The former Smiths frontman collapsed following his show in Boston on Saturday and was taken to hospital immediately. Unable to “shake the virus”, the singer announced that he would cancel his scheduled June 21 date with Sir Cliff Richard in New York with “unimaginable sorrow.”
A statement on his Facebook page said: "It is with great sadness that the remainder of the US Tour has been cancelled.
"The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted.
"Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates."
Meanwhile, Young was reportedly asked to skip a number of shows but has decided to leave the tour altogether.
Last year, Morrissey was also forced to cancel a string of US dates after suffering a bleeding ulcer, Barrett’s oesophagus, and double pneumonia.
