Drivers and commuters are being warned to be careful as the cold weather returns bringing more wintry showers.
Snow sleet and ice are expected to cause further disruption as temperatures plunge once more in the run up to New Year.
Travellers have already been hit throughout the country and further heavy snow is predicted to fall across the UK as many return to work on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Met Office has forecast that up to 20-30cm could the Welsh hills as well as 5-10cm across many parts of England and Scotland.
The east, Yorkshire and Humberside and Northern Island are also likely to experience icy condition and drivers have been warned to take extra care.
New Year revellers in Scotland could well see snow showers falling on them all the clock strikes, with sleet likely elsewhere.
