The Arctic Monkeys look set to sweep the board at the Q Awards, after being nominated in four of the six categories.
The Sheffield band - who have already scooped the prestigious Nationwide Mercury Prize this year - are up for Best New Act, Best Live Act, Best Album and Best Track for their hit single 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'.
The group's manager Ian McAndrew said yesterday (16.10.06): "All the band members will be there and they're looking forward to it - it's by far the best awards ceremony. And if Oasis are there it's sure to be an eventful night."
Oasis, fronted by wild rocker Liam Gallagher, are nominated for the Best Act In The World Today category, but face stiff competition from Muse, U2, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay.
At last year's ceremony, Liam branded Coldplay frontman Chris Martin a "plant pot".
The Arctic Monkeys will battle it out with Lily Allen, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Kooks and Orson for Best New Act.
Other acts nominated include Kasabian who will battle The Zutons for Best Video. Kasabian have been put forward for their epic war-themed 'Empire' promo, while The Zutons' have been nominated for their 'Westside Story'-inspired video for 'Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?'.
This year marks the 17th Q Awards ceremony, but is set to be extra special as Q magazine is also celebrating its 20th birthday.
In addition to the six main awards there will be a special Outstanding Contribution to Music prize presented to Smokey Robinson.
British TV presenter Jonathan Ross will host the awards for the third year in a row. The ceremony takes place on October 30 at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
