Mischa Barton has an unusual fashion guru - her mom.

The sexy actress, who plays stylish Marissa Cooper in hit show 'The O.C.', has confessed she always asks her mother for clothes advice.

She revealed: "I go to my mom for approval on everything style-related. She grew up in London in the 1960s and is pretty cool. She knows what looks good."

However, despite her cool style, Mischa claims she hates shopping because it's too time consuming.

She told Britain's Sunday Times Style magazine: "I like fashion because it's another way of expressing yourself. Then again, I don't put a lot of effort into it, so I would hate to think that anybody is really scrutinising what outfit I wear. Lord knows, it's going to change next week."
