Martin Freeman was given the best actor award at Jameson Empire Film Awards for his performance in The Hobbit. Steering away from traditional acceptance speech usually given by actors, he said: “It's possible that my performance was not the best of the year, but I'll take it.”
Dame Helen Mirren was also the epitome of modesty when she was hailed an Empire Legend. She said: “I feel more of a leg-over than a legend. I have been more in my career.”
Sam Mendes, the director of hugely successfully Bond movie, Skyfall, took home two awards: Best director and the “inspiration award.” Jennifer Lawrence on the other hand, continued her winning streak and bagged the best actress award.
Other winners include Tom Holland (Best Male Newcomer), Samantha Barks (Best Female Newcomer), Ted (Best Comedy), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Best Science-Fiction/Fantasy), and Headhunters (Best Thriller).
Skyfall was chosen as best film. While Daniel Radcliffe and Danny Boyle were given Empire Hero and Empire Outstanding Contribution award, respectively.
