Mariah's singing lessons

Mariah Carey is having singing lessons for her new film role.

The biggest-selling female music artist of all time can sing in five octaves, but is learning to sing country-and-western style for her latest film 'Tennessee' about a waitress who is rocketed to fame.

One of the producers said: "Mariah is determined to make sure that this film isn't a flop."

Mariah, 36, was hospitalised for an 'emotional breakdown' when her first film 'Glitter' flopped at the box office.

'Glitter' was also the story of singer on the road to stardom, loosely based on her own life story.

Her second film, 'State Property 2', was also a spectacular failure.
