Margaret Thatcher leaves London hospital

The former Prime Minister has left the hospital after getting a tumour removed from her bladder.

After undergoing operation to remove a growth from her bladder, former Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has left the hospital, says sources.

The 87-year-old is believed to have been admitted last week and is thought to have left the hospital on Friday. She is said to be “doing well” after the minor operation.

Her spokesman said: “She is going to convalesce privately.”

Lord Bell - a friend and former adviser of Baroness Thatcher said: "She's very tough. The doctors are perfectly happy. They say the operation has been completely satisfactory.”

Baroness Thatcher, who was UK’s first female prime minister and served three terms, is suffering from poor health for the last number of years. In 2002, she had a series of minor strokes and was advised by doctors to stop making public speeches. Because of this, she didn’t make it at Diamond Jubilee celebration earlier this year that was attended by the Queen, the prime minister, and former prime ministers.
