There was a major disruption on the M25 motorway on the first day of the Olympics as workers scrambled to fix the unsightly electronic signs that were broken. Diversions were placed near the junction of the M4 route, the main motorway leading in and out of London.
According to officials, they worked hard to complete the job before the Friday morning rush hour.
The Highways Agency informed motorists ahead of time to expect some delay as they were diverted to two junctions so that the work on M25 will be completed. “All road users are advised to allow plenty of time for their journeys.”
They also took necessary precautions in keeping motorists safe and out of the way while the repairs were ongoing. The agency placed signs that helped divert traffic away from the affected areas.
The agency released a statement that said: “Road users are informed that both the M4 link roads to the anti-clockwise M25 will be closed and only one lane will be open on the anti-clockwise M25 at junction 15 overnight tonight (Thursday) for technology repairs.”
The notice also said that the repairs for the three faulty signals would take place between midnight and 5 in the morning on Friday. The work was finished on time.
The agency announced that the work would help ‘maintain safe journeys along the M4/M25’.
