The Simpsons’ 25th series will air in the US this weekend and fans have definitely one more reason to tune in. The show’s executive producer, Al Jean, has said that one of the show’s major characters will be killed off this season.
Refusing to reveal the name of the character in question, Al Jean told the Canada Sun Times; "I'll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won't say who it is."
Bookies are placing the highest odds on Kelsey Grammer’s Sideshow Bob character. Grammer took home the Emmy in 2006 for playing the clown obsessed with killing Bart Simpson.
The last death on the show took place 14 years ago and it was Maude, Ned Flander’s wife.
Jean added that the final episode of the season will be a crossover with Futurama.
He said: "I've been here 25 years, and we had a read yesterday where the excitement was as high as I've ever seen.”
"We had John DiMaggio and Billy West and Maurice LaMarche from Futurama, as well as our cast, and I thought that's got to be the greatest voiceover talent assembled at one read.
"It was really, really great to see Bender interacting with Homer."
